Ethics Policy

Imagn Images is the nation’s largest sports-image wire service and a leading provider of original editorial photography. We are dedicated to capturing the nation’s most compelling moments, making them accessible for all editorial needs.

We strive to satisfy the demands of our clients for the best storytelling and compelling imagery in the photojournalism industry with honest and accurate photos and captions on deadline.

The editorial content and accuracy of our photographs must be beyond reproach. Any attempt to mislead clients or readers jeopardizes the ability of Imagn to cover sporting and news events.

Anything less than 100% authenticity and truthfulness threatens the reputation of our company with the public, our clients and with the various organizations who credential our photographers for access.

Post-production shortcuts or editing actions that that might be acceptable in other fields of professional or artistic photography are considered unethical in wire-service work and are unacceptable.

There will not be any tolerance at Imagn Images for:

  1. - Photographs that have been manipulated in post processing (“photoshopping”) to digitally add, remove or change people or items or area, or otherwise deceptively toned and edited to replicate grossly exaggerated lighting or colors;

  2. - Photographs generated with Artificial Intelligence tools, or manipulated by AI applications such as TopazAI to selectively sharpen or blur a person, item or area;

  3. - Photographs that are willfully captioned to inaccurately describe the actions and moments in an image (for example, describing a photo of a baseball player hitting a ground ball out as a base hit, or captioning a photo of a football player reaching out for the endzone pylon as a touchdown when he didn’t score on the play).

Photographs that violate these standards will be immediately deleted from our systems upon the discovery that such images have been manipulated or are purposely inaccurate. Picture kill notices will be generated and broadcast to our clients.

Photographers that knowingly upload such manipulated or inaccurately-captioned images will jeopardize their ability to receive future assignments from Imagn Images.

Acceptance of photography assignments from Imagn Images will be considered as both acknowledgement of this policy and of the possible penalties for violation of its terms.
