Salvadorian President Nayib Bukele delivers speech at CPAC 2024

Nayib Bukele, President of El Salvador, delivered a speech upon the invitation of Republicans at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland on Thursday. Bukele, who was elected in 2019, is credited with greatly increasing safety in the Central American country with a crackdown on gangs. However, some human rights advocates have raised alarm about his heavy-handed tactics, saying that innocent people have been wrongfully jailed. In his speech at the high-profile gathering of conservatives, he told attendees to "put up a fight, because in the end it will be worth it."
